Melbourne :: Lentils as Anything, Anytime!

I followed a recommendation from R and hopped over to Abbotsford Convent for Hoppers! The concept is interesting: Pay-as-you-please. It's a great and delicious way to donate!

Lentils as Anything
Verdict: Go
Meal: Brunch & Lunch
Price: $As you feel

I started off with a mocha and people-watched. What a mixture of people! Backpackers, homeless, teenagers, families...even a guy in a suit (on Sunday morning? Maybe he went to church.). I wandered outside for a hopper and a Sri Lanken farmer breakast. Yum. Carbohydrate wrapped in carbohydrates is always a winner.

On Sundays, there's a fun market that sells all sorts of homemade goods:

Soap that looks like food!
The lunch buffet is surprisingly great - everything is Sri Lanka-inspired. Curries, lentils, richly stewed vegetables, and...er, okonomiyaki. Sure. Anyways, on your way out, pop "what you feel"  in the Magic Donation Box. Your donations help cover those who can't afford such wonderful food on a regular basis - mmm~!

!

...a personal aside
Rachel Funari, the wonderful soul who tipped me off about Abbotsford Convent's Lentils As Anything is still missing. A wonderful spirit and adventurous traveller, the search for Rachel continues. Updates are posted on a Facebook page here.
