Sweet Fantasies :: Last Summer Ice Cream Night

Strawberry Ice Cream Win!

Yum - nothing is better than ice cream to cap off a good dinner. Despite the cool night, we headed to Sweet Fantasies, a little ice cream shop in the Annex.

Sweet Fantasies
Verdict: Strawberry & Triple Brownie win! PB & Chocolate lose
Meal: Dessert
Price: $2.85 single, $3.99 double + 60¢ for waffle cone
Location: 398 Bloor St West, Toronto

Triple Brownie Ice Cream
...in a waffle cone!

Yum - this is consistently a good choice. I am not a fan of their waffle cone though - it was too sweet and thin for my taste. I still stand by my declaration that The Big Chill has the best waffle cone in Toronto! This had chunks of chocolate brownie throughout - good stuff!

Peanut Butter & Chocolate
Strawberry
...in a cup!

The Peanut Butter & Chocolate was disappointing. Unlike Marbleslab and The Big Chill, there were not swirls of peanut butter but little bits of peanut butter cups embedded throughout the dessert instead. Wish the name was a little more clear. Disappointing.

I've always loved their strawberry ice cream! However, in the past I've found chunks of berry throughout the ice cream. That was not the case tonight - too bad!

hi! i do agree that the big chill waffle cones are totally amazing, i think i have found a waffle cone that is even better. it's from Delight - the chocolate store in the Junction. the ice cream there is also a bit of a revelation. all organic, small batch, and very very flavourful. i'm not a big fan of pure chocolate, but the chocolate there is to die for. i've also tried the mint chocolate, and niagara apricot. i highly recommend!!

mmm!! I heard of Delight but I'm hardly ever down there. With the summer winding down...maybe I ought to take a special trip before it gets too cold!! (Although...is it ever really too cold for ice cream? haha)

it's never too cold for ice cream! i tried il gelatiere on what was literally the coldest day of the year last winter. but it would be nice to try before it gets cold. there IS a location around Queen and Bathurst but i've never been so you'd have to confirm they sold ice cream, but i think they do. not sure what fruit flavours they'd have right now since everything they make is so seasonal...

HmmMMm...I want to check this place out now...it's a bit out of my way but I'm sure I can swing it! I'm a sucker for really great chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone
