Kenzo Ramen :: Japanese Noodles

Sometimes all I want is a good, steaming bowl of noodles. I will admit that many a night I've snatched a pack of Nong Shim instant noodles from the top of my fridge (where I hide a lot of my really "bad" food - I figure that if it requires a stool to grab, I'll only go for it when I really want it). So bad but so good. Crack an egg in there, add some greens (bok choy!), whatever leftovers you have in the fridge, and mm mm good. You can also stir fry the noodles after cooking!

But enough about instant noodles.

If it's not a midnight craving, I'll head to Kenzo for a quick bowl of salty yet satisfying ramen. On more than one occasion, I've slipped in past 10pm to just make the last call.

Verdict:  Quick, tasty bowl of noodles

Sage Cafe :: Baldwin

Sage Café has been one of my long-time favourites of Baldwin Village. On more than one occasion, I've stopped friends from heading to the nearby Subway and geared them towards this little shop for their great soups, wraps, pastas, and pizza. I was in the area and I needed something tasty right away so I grabbed my friend and headed to Sage.

Sage Café
Verdict: Go! Fresh wraps, pasta, and pizza

Pies, Pies, PIES! Sour Cherry is my favourite!

Who doesn't love Pecan Pie?

Today, I have a strong craving for pie. It is probably the delicious croissant that I had yesterday from Beast (pictures to come!) but man. I've been thinking of pie ever since.

BRUNCH!
After reading about  Wanda's terrible waffle and knowing my favourite meal is brunch, a friend suggested Le Petit Dejeuner. I lo-o-o-ve brunch! What a perfect excuse to not only grab a waffle but show a friend visiting from New York a tasty Saturday morning in Toronto.

Pancho's Bakery

Pastries & Churros!

My Compañero de Galletas decided that we ought to share something other than cookies. We headed to Pancho's Bakery, for something that he promised was kind of like a cookie and deserved a spot in my Chocolate Cookie Crusade.

Smile for SickKids :: Chocolate Cookie Crusade #4

Charity. Knowing my love for cookies and my current training for this Sunday's Run to End Poverty (supporting Engineers Without Borders), a friend tipped me off about Tim Horton's $1 Smile Cookies. Thank you for giving me this wonderful idea and yet another excuse to enjoy a cookie!
 M, this post is for you =)
Someone should caption this!

This week, all proceeds from these cookies will be donated to the SickKids Foundation Charity. So in addition to visiting their fantastic Farmer's Market (I was incredibly pleased to hear that someone read my post and went yesterday!!) for wonderful produce, you can get a tasty cookie to show your support! What a delicious way to give back! How rare is it for an organization to give 100% of their proceeds? Good job Tim Hortons. I was not planning on including you in my Chocolate Cookie Crusade (despite the fact that you fulfil all criteria). But I'm glad I did.

Tim Hortons Smile Cookies
Verdict: Soft, chocolate-y, & warm fuzzy feelings for supporting SickKids
Meal: Cookie Run (Chocolate Cookie Crusade Series)
Price: $1

Dinner Plate Sammy :: Midnight Snacks

Dinner Plate Sammy
Leftover Balsamic-Poppyseed Chicken
Tomatoes
Pasta sauce (a mix I made in the slow cooker that includes zucchini, carrots, onions, ground turkey, kidney beans and garlic)
2 slices of toast (finally got some)

Sage Cafe :: Chocolate Cookie Crusade #3

Went to Sage Café for one of their housemade cookies - definitely does not rival Wanda's Pie in the Sky's Fully Loaded cookie. I appreciated the big chunks of chocolate though! It is smaller in diameter than the others, but thicker. Crunchy (so drier) and chocolate-y, it was a good cookie, and I definitely preferred it over Orange Alert's Phipps' cookie but it didn't have the soft decadence of Wanda's Fully Loaded cookie. I am looking for a soft cookie! The hunt continues.

Sage Café
Verdict: Decent, sweet, but not a winner
Meal: Cookie Run (Chocolate Cookie Crusade Series)
Price: ~$2.25 + tax (I can't remember exactly)
Location: 166 McCaul St., Toronto
